Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place 2014 is looking for a few good presenters. Join us in Pittsburgh, PA, on September 8-11, 2014, when we will convene North America’s best-established and largest conference on walking, bicycling, and Placemaking.

The Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place conference will attract 1,000 planners, engineers, architects, public health professionals, educators, advocates, and more than a few zealous nuts for our three day event. We are looking for people who understand how more and better walking, bicycling, and Place can transform communities and improve quality-of-life for individuals. Come and share your success stories; learn the latest research; see how Pittsburgh is embracing Placemaking; network with your peers; and have a great time doing all of the above.

Our program for 2014 is organized into four tracks that reflect the outcomes we as planners, advocates, Placemakers, and others, are trying to achieve through our work, research, and advocacy:

• Change - Sessions in this track will explore how we mobilize people to change minds, policies, systems, and priorities.
• Connect - Sessions in this track will focus on the planning and infrastructure needed to support and encourage walking and bicycling by people of all abilities and ages.
• Prosper - Sessions in this track will explore the economic, health, and social benefits of investing in walking, bicycling, and Place.
• Sustain - Sessions in this track will focus on broadening our audience, shifting our transportation/land use paradigm, and preserving our environment.

Within these tracks will be a rich selection of presentation topics such as: Placemaking, complete streets, safe routes to school, context sensitive design, public bike share, shared space, walking/biking/transit networks, technical design standards, road safety, and much more. Take a look at our 2012 conference program to gain an appreciation for the breadth of our program, and the quality of the sessions.

The Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place conference offers a variety of presentation formats from which prospective presenters may choose:

• Traditional (60 and 90 minutes) - This format is best suited for in depth exploration of a topic using PowerPoint and audience Q & A.
• Panel/Moderated Discussion (90 minutes) - A “fireside chat” format used to spark cross-disciplinary dialogue, and to dig deeply into panelists’ expertise.
• Poster and Pecha Kucha - Ideal for work that is in-progress or for topics that are best explored one-on-one or in small groups.
• Peer:Peer Coaching Session - An opportunity to apply the collective expertise of conference attendees to challenges delegates are facing in their communities. These small group discussions will be facilitated by subject matter experts.

Even if you do not intend to submit a proposal, Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place should be on your list of places to be in 2014! Pittsburgh is an exciting and dynamic host city of 100+ distinctive neighborhoods and an ideal laboratory for Placemaking. There is an electricity about the conference which comes from the one-quarter of attendees who are there as presenters.
