This place is a significant source of food for elderly and homebound citizens in Huntsville.

What makes it Great?

Why it doesn't work?

This a true community garden planted and maintained by volunteers. This garden's harvest is distributed freely to the elderly and homebound of Madison County, Alabama. It is the most community-oriented community garden of its type in the U.S. In 2001, this 1/3 acre garden harvested over 19,000 pounds of vegetables, helping feed over 7,500 of our community's senior citizens.

Access & Linkages

We are in the process of moving to a new location at 4700 block of the Bob Wallace Ave, Huntsville, Alabama.

Comfort & Image

Yes, we have scarecrows and a beautiful garden.

Uses & Activities

Although this is a functional, working garden operation, we do have visitors from time to time.

Sociability

Volunteers usually meet other individuals wishing to help others. We do have a lot of social interaction.
