This June, Project for Public Spaces and co-host Downtown Detroit Partnership welcomed a sold-out crowd of 642 placemakers from 177 cities and 12 countries to Detroit for the 5th International Placemaking Week!

Under the theme "From Recovery to Resilience through Placemaking," attendees explored how Detroit's transformational public spaces offer a model for turning hard times into opportunities for reinvention. Over three days, the conference featured plenaries, workshops, and networking events at iconic sites across the city, including a powerful conversation with PPS Board Member Mitchell Silver on how public space can strengthen civic life and democracy.
