We’re pleased to announce that the preliminary program is now available to peruse, outlining an impressive array of speakers including a welcome by the Honorable Xavier Trias, Mayor of Barcelona, and a Plenary Panel on Market Cities featuring Fred Kent, Founder and President of PPS, Raimond Blasi, Vice Mayor of Barcelona, and Julie Wagner, Nonresident Senior Fellow with The Brookings Institution.

Public markets from around the world will be represented in the sessions and panels including: Pike Place Market (Seattle, Washington), Borough Market (London, England), Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market (Nova Scotia, Canada), FRESHFARM Markets (Washington, D.C.), Lok Fu Market and Tin Shui Market (Hong Kong), GrowNYC-Greenmarket Farmers Markets (NYC), Markthal Rotterdam (Netherlands), Queen Victoria Market (Melbourne, Australia), and Souk el Tayeb (Beirut, Lebanon).

Additionally, delegates are expected from Dublin, Hong Kong, Pécs, Torino, Toronto, Barcelona, The Hague, and Washington DC, as well as representations from affiliate organizations such as Wholesome Wave, Foodshare Toronto, Fresh Food Network, UN Women, and The Brookings Institution.

Excited yet? We sure are!

If you haven’t registered, be sure to do so by Friday, February 27th for discounted winter rates. Final rates will end midnight on March 18th, EST. We’d also like to thank everyone who submitted nominations for the 10 Most Endangered Public Markets list. We got a lot of great submissions and are looking forward to presenting the final list at the conference. See you there!
