Be Part of the Australasian Coalescing of Placemaking as a Social Movement! Adelaide has been leading on Placemaking, Place Governance and Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper as demonstrated by what they've done with the front of their council building.
Placemaking is becoming a major social movement, from big cities to small towns all across the globe! Over the past few years we've seen an explosion of energy from Placemakers down under, and today, just as this movement is taking off, Australia is perfectly positioned to be one of the international leaders in the field. Over the next few months, PPS will be involved in several key events around the country focused on how Placemaking can become a more coherent, unified movement, and we wanted to give you a head's up! We hope to see you at one (or all) of these important gatherings:
Sydney Ideas: Placemaking as a Social Movement Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 PPS Vice President Ethan Kent will deliver a lecture on Placemaking as a Social Movement tomorrow at the University of Sydney's Sydney Ideas programme. If you can't make the event in person, make sure to follow @ sydney_ideas and @ PPS_Placemaking on Twitter for updates!
Future of Places: Australasia and the Asia-Pacific Thursday March 6th - Friday, March 7th, 2014 After more than a dozen Aussies came to our Stockholm Future of Places conference and our Detroit Placemaking Leadership Council meeting, Place Leaders and the City of Adelaide are generously convening Placemaking leaders from Australasia and South Asia to further articulate and advance Placemaking as a global development agenda. Follow @ FutureOfPlaces and @ Placeleader for more updates.
Velo-city Global 2014 Tuesday, May 27th - Friday, May 30th, 2014 The European Cyclists' Federation is hosting this major conference in Adelaide, and Placemaking will be a major theme in 2014.
