A Colonial Art Museum that was once a convent.
San Diego Convent was a peaceful place and belonged to the Franciscan order. Hanging on the walls are beautiful linens with allegories about Jesus ChristÍs Passion, MariaÍs assumption and life of saints and others who lived in poverty as San Francisco de Asis and Diego de Alcala, employees of the convent. There are pieces of interest, such as the pulpit of the church, a representation of the Baroque Style; the crucifix, which was Father AlmeidaÍs way to leave the convent to fulfill his bohemian life. In the art gallery of the church, you can appreciate allegoric linens about San Francisco de AsisÍs life, with Andrade SanchezÍs signature.
The address is: 117 Calicuchima and Farfan Streets, it is near the cemetery. To get there, you must take a public transportation or a taxi. It is near El Panecillo and the downtown area.
This place is clean; it is a wonderful place and represents the religion and colonial art of Ecuador.
In the convent, there is museum of Colonial Art; in the church you can have guides who will bring you through the museum.
This place is visited by national and foreigner tourists because the Franciscans lived there and also because it is near the cemetery.
