Neighborhood \nURLS:\n
Excellent retail concentration including independent bookstore, apothecary, coffee shops(chain and local), a mix of ethnic restaurants, and a delightful public plaza. It also has a down-at-the heels, but popular, theater showing first-run movies. Retail core surrounded by wide mix of housing alternatives. Near a public park and an excellent branch of the public library.
An elevated station on the CTA's Brown Line is located adjacent to the retail core, which is also served by multiple bus lines. The retail core is extremely pedestrian friendly but parking is available. People stroll through the area, eat at sidewalk restaurants, mingle in the plaza. German cultural organizations hold popular Maifest and Oktober events there every year.
Lincoln Square is clean and attractive. it is patronized by persons of all ages. Many of the familes in the area have small children who play in the park, frolic in plaza and patronize the libray and love the movies.
See above and below.
Mood is convivial. Individuals come to be around other people, groups come to enjoy each other's company in bars, restaurants and at events. Solitary souls are surrounded by couples and families in the theater and restaurants. People "hang out" (often with their computers) in the coffee shops. Local pride is evident and the restaurants draw visitors from throughout the city.
