What internships do you have available?

Our intern program runs from the Spring to the Fall season, and further internship positions are based on our project needs. All internship opportunities will be posted as they arise, so please check the jobs page for all open listings.

What are the deadlines for submitting an internship application?

Deadlines will vary per each internship position. Please check the jobs page for all open listings.

What materials will I need to submit for an internship?

Be prepared to submit a thoughtful cover letter, a resume, and a writing sample to apply for the internship. If you are also a designer, you will be expected to submit a portfolio of your work in addition.

How many hours a week will I work?

General interns work a minimum of 20 hours a week, but this can go up to 40 hours per week, depending on the schedule. This will be determined individually with each intern. The intern must work in the PPS office between the hours of 9:30 – 6:00pm Monday – Friday.

Where is the internship located?

All of our internships are located at our office in New York City at 419 Lafayette St.

Are internships paid?

In general, internships are paid a stipend. PPS interns will also gain significant experiences, networking skills, and insight into potential career paths. PPS relies on interns to work in teams with PPS staff to produce substantial work.

School credit is also available upon request.

What skills will I gain?

Interns gain a better understanding of Placemaking and ways to engage stakeholders in a community visioning and planning process. Specific skill sets such as research, writing, and design can also be enhanced.

Are only students eligible for an internship?

We offer internships to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, professionals, and other qualified candidates.

Do you accept interns from international applicants?

We do accept applications internationally, however we are unable to provide Visas. Non-US citizens must provide their own Visas that permit them to work or volunteer in the United States.

When will I hear whether or not I was selected as an intern?

Due to the high volume of applications that we receive for our internships, we are unable to respond to everyone and will only be able to respond to applicants invited for an interview. We will do our best to respond to as many submissions as possible.
