With historical roots in cultures all over the world, the public square is being rediscovered as a powerful means of transforming communities.

PPS’s program to facilitate the “return of the public square” focuses on reinvigorating existing squares and working with cities to create new ones. The goal is to create squares that become important gathering places for the local community. Success depends upon both physical improvements to the space and a strong management program.
