Sam Morrissey is the City Traffic Engineer for the City of Santa Monica and has held the position since January 2009. He is responsible for overseeing the Transportation Engineering and Management Division of the City, which provides transportation engineering, traffic signal, and transportation demand management (TDM) program services. Other responsibilities include implementing transportation management plans for special events, planning and monitoring traffic control for construction activities, developing and directing policies related to parking, project development, securing project funding, and working with local residents and business groups to address transportation issues. Sam has over 13 years of experience in the design, planning, forecasting, analysis, and operation of a variety of transportation facilities. Prior to joining the City of Santa Monica, Sam’s experience was in the private sector working on planning and engineering projects in California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Utah, and Washington. He is a registered Civil Engineer in California and Hawaii, and a registered Traffic Engineer in California.
