Rethinking Grand Army Plaza

Brooklyn, NY (2006-present). The Grand Army Plaza Coalition (GAPCo) was founded by PPS and a group of committed local residents. It has become a model of effective grassroots organizing and advocacy that is accomplishing many of the goals that have emerged from our work with them.

Freeway Park

Seattle, WA (2004-2005). When Freeway Park was built, it was hailed as a major accomplishment. Over the years, however, the park fell into disuse. The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department asked PPS to assist it in developing a community vision for the park and the larger neighborhood.

Newark Waterfront Community Access Study

Newark, NJ (2003). While widening McCarter Highway (Rte 21.), a major truck and commuter highway that runs along the Passaic River into Newark's Central Business District, NJDOT asked PPS to facilitate a public outreach program - the Newark Waterfront Community Access Study.

Oviedo Downtown Master Plan and New Community Park

Oviedo, FL (2005 - 2008). Oviedo embarked on a public-private partnership with Broad Street Partners LLC to create a new town center and community park. PPS worked with Broad Street to ensure that the new town center offers citizens of Oviedo a variety of destinations, gathering places and activities.

Miami Florida Area Parks Planning

Miami, Florida (1999-2006). The City of Miami wanted to link multiple contiguous parklands to one another along the Biscayne Bayfront and turn a vacant parcel behind the American Airlines Arena into a signature destination. To achieve this, the City and Miami Dade County hired PPS to run a series of vision workshops and partnership building exercises.

Placemaking in Mississauga

In June, 2005, PPS led training workshops and presentations for over 200 City of Mississauga staff from all departments, including politicians and senior management.
