Building off of the goals set forth in Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation's "Granville Island 2040" report, Project for Public Spaces created a vision for the expansion of the Granville Island Public Market. This included physical expansion, both indoors and outdoors, paired with new programs and updated merchandising. The expansion will help the market to expand sales, stay relevant in the local food scene, and continue to be one of the most-visited destinations in the region.
The Granville Island Public Market Expansion Strategy will support the scaling-up of one of North America's flagship markets. It highlights how well-established markets can grow and change, and also outlines the benefits to funding the public market's expansion. The Market’s new strategy will build on the market’s history, incorporate First Nations communities in visioning and planning, and expand options for vendors and visitors, alike.
