So that people could...
have access to a variety of books at a low-cost. This would be a place where people on the south side would be able to trade, buy and sell books. This location could also promote literacy through reading circles, performances, readings, speakers, club cards, galas, incentives, etc.
Because I want San Antonio to be...
a city that provides equal opportunities and enrichment to all its areas. Right now, the only places besides libraries (albeit- wonderful libraries) thrift stores, and Wal-Mart are the only establishments where books are available. There is no where for people to buy used books or have a place to trade/sell/donate used books. The closest bookstore is Half Price Books, but it is not within walking distance. Currently, there is not a book store/swap on the south side of San Antonio.
