Hays Street Bridge at Hwy 281

My idea to improve this place

Transform the creepy area underneath Hwy 281 into a covered linear park and event space.

So that people could... 

Have more places to be outdoors in the shade. Have a clear and friendly pedestrain route to connect the Hays Street Bridge/Dignowity Hill to the rest of downtown and to the Riverwalk 4 blocks away.

Because I want San Antonio to be...

A seamless and beautiful pedestrian experience flowing from the Riverwalk out to the historic neighborhoods around it, not walled off by highways, and with lots of fun places to be outdoors and comfortable. (flickr photo by AndYaDontStop)

This is a great idea. Covered outdoor spaces are suited to San Antonio. In the rain and the sun, covered spaces make all the difference. These areas under highways are wasted.

Since there is no Skate park on the East side, the place right next to the Hays St Bridge underneath I-37 would improve the underused area by encouraging people on the hottest of days to stay active.
