Public Square, Cleveland, OH

Located
by Terminal Tower, a multi-use transit hub at the heart of downtown,
Cleveland's Public Square is currently criss-crossed by six-lane roads.
Mayor Jane Campbell, the City Planning Commission, and the non-profit
ParkWorks are collaborating to develop the square's latent potential as a flagship public space. In August they convened a forum facilitated by Project for Public Spaces that brought together 175 people from various constituencies
to create a vision for this crucial area.
"In
order for Cleveland to compete, specifically as it seeks to bolster
its regional image and significantly increase its downtown residential
base," stated ParkWorks executive director Ann Zoller, "we
need to create dynamic public spaces designed to complement the many
other development efforts happening in the city."
