After many successful parks conferences in the US, Project for Public Spaces is pleased to announce that Great Parks/Great Cities is hopping across the pond in 2004. Anyone who cares about parks and their role in making cities more livable should attend. The conference will give civic leaders an up-close look at the unique situation in Britain, where the government is supporting a renaissance of parks and green spaces through a wide range of initiatives and programs.
The conference promises a lively dialogue between US and international leaders: Americans can experience firsthand fresh ideas from an international community, and our partners GreenSpace attests to folks abroad who are anxious to learn about the unique variety of public/private partnerships that have evolved in the States.
PPS is organizing a sidetrip to Paris for a small group before the conference convenes. Hosted by Fred Kent and Kathy Madden, the group will have the unique chance to meet some Paris park managers while visiting some of the city's magnificent public spaces, and simply enjoy the city together. If you're interested in the Paris side-trip, please contact Chris Heitmann at cheitmann@pps.org or at 212-620-5660.
Questions? Please contact Chris Heitmann or Shin-pei Tsay at 212-620-5660.
