A simple and authentic park that has grown organically as new activities and amenities were requested by the park's users.
In a city so blinded by high design that most of its waterfront is virtually empty of active public destinations, this small, recent addition stands in stark contrast. The charm of People’s Park lies in its simple authenticity; it has grown organically as new activities requested by the public were gradually added to the existing uses of the site. It is so successful that six more are going to be developed in the near future. Copenhagen should make it a priority to site these new parks next to important civic buildings, such as the Library and the new Opera House, that could showcase themselves to the public to far greater effect if given the opportunity.
