Wall Street, Asheville
Submitted by: Robin Adkins
A pedestrian shopping area that does not permit chain stores.
Asheville is the Mecca for liberal and moderate, thinking people who have an interest in any of the visual or performing arts. No chains are permitted downtown, only small, privately owned boutique shops and pubs.
What Makes Wall Street, Asheville a Great Place?
The neighborhood is pedestrian friendly. Many people come here for an evening out; they park the car, and walk to markets, movies and dinner.
The area is very bohemian. The odd pan-handling homeless person or wino can be a nuisance. Otherwise, this is a very safe town.
Scads of good (but casual) restaurants, pubs and boutiques.
Very laid-back and casual. A wide variety of people from diverse places find safe haven in downtown Asheville.
