Ouray Hot Springs Pool and Park
1200 Main Street

Hot springs pool, recreation center, and town park.
The main feature of this recreation center is the hot springs pool of approximately 750,000 gallons. There are three temperature levels: 1) cool enough for lap swimming; 2) intermediate, good for resting; and 3) hot tub temperature. The shape of the pool is an ellipse. This pool is part of recreation center. The Town of Ouray owns and runs this recreation center. A daily fee must be paid to use the pool and recreation center (season passes are also available). There is also a beautiful, 5-acre park (no fee needed) with a well maintained lawn south of the pool.
Ouray is a historic district. There are no billboards in Ouray, Ridgway, or unincorporated Ouray County. National forest area begins south of town of Ouray.
The pool is open year round (except very few days per year closed for cleaning and maintenance). It is used by skiers in winter. The Telluride ski area is approximately 50 miles away by paved roads.
This place is 310 miles from my home in Lakewood CO. I have gone to Ouray CO around eight times for overnight stays. I am very happy with this place. I first learned about it while driving to Durango CO.
What Makes Ouray Hot Springs Pool and Park a Great Place?
There is a walkway around the park which connects to sidewalks that lead into downtown Ouray at southeast end of the park. The park and hot springs pool are clearly visible from Highway US-550. It is easy to walk to from downtown Ouray and from most of the hotels in Ouray.
The whole place is beautiful. There is no litter and it is very clean. Both the park and the pool are well maintained. The center is located at the base of mountains. You will find a spectacular view looking up to mountains from everywhere in this place.
The main activities are swimming and soaking in the hot springs pool. All parts of the recreation center area and pool seem to be used.
The hot springs pool is used both by locals and tourists.
