    Not transportation engineers’ fault
More accurately, transportation engineers historically have been given a very limited set of tools and solutions to use to solve their communities’ transportation problems. PPS works with many DOTs who are expanding their solution set, who are looking at ways to better integrate land use and transportation decisions, most notably and currently in San Mateo County, California, New Jersey DOT, and New Hampshire DOT. So the real key is, “How about trying a new way of thinking that spends our resources to create livable cities that get people out of their cars and lessens the need for more asphalt?”
