This year's Rail Volution conference stands at a crossroads. We are on the precipice of tremendous change - both locally and globally - as communities all over the world grapple with important issues that affect them, such as:
All of these issues are blending into a critical convergence of opportunity - to think creatively, discuss holistically, act decisively and make a difference.
PPS Vice President Cynthia Nikitin will be present the best transit-oriented development and placemaking practices of the training program "Principles of Community Supportive Transit"(CST) Thinking Beyond the Station. Qualities and characteristics of "CST" have been identified in Norfolk, VA with APTA Transit Board Members and at the TRB Land Use and Transportation conference inDenver, CO.
Audience members will be invited to get in on the ground floor by helping to further define the qualities and characteristics of well-designed, managed and sited transit facilities that work for communities and to identify the barriers to making this happen. This session also will include discussion of how the Thinking Beyond the Station program can be structured to support transit agencies to develop community-supportive transit service and facilities nationwide.
