    Oviedo on the Park
I have seen maps of the proposed new Oviedo on the park. Progress IS being made from earlier maps that I have. BUT… I would like to see more restaraunts circling the lake – facing the lake, with outside dining. I think this would be an added attraction that will bring outside dollars to Oviedo. As you know, we do not have any real good dining locations in Oviedo and you have a perfect opportunity to add quality restaraunts, in an ideal setting, that will put Oviedo on the map.

I am a professional, living in Oviedo, working for Siemens. Many of us would love to have some local, classier areas for happy hours or dining – from a professional standpoint. Froggers doesn’t cut it. Many of my colleagues and friends have to travel outside of Oviedo & Seminole County, to Waterford Lakes or University BLVD. for our only close options. It would be nice to have these types of restaraunts / bars, in our own back yard.

I would also suggest to have public bike racks in the restaraunt areas, which will also attract bikers, using the Oviedo Trail to stop and have lunch or drinks, as they explore the trail. That is if the trail still goes around the lake. My wife and I were going to stop at the Townhouse a few weeks ago, on a Saturday afternoon, but we couldn’t lock up our bikes, so we just went home.

Good luck with the endevor and I will be watching your progress !!!

    restaurants
I too agree with the previous comment that to have a few restaurants (Lake Eola, Park Ave. style) would be a wonderful addition. However, let’s keep in mind the very DRAW to Oviedo is that it is a family oriented escape from Orlando! If we make the new downtown too “designer” (for lack of a better description)trendy, we will lose that wonderful quiet, low crime, small town, community feeling. The millions that presently frequent Waterford Lakes and UCF will be piling over in droves creating just another traffic jam, ruining the atmosphere! Please ponder this! If that is the scene we are looking for, we can just drive a short 10 minutes to get it without planting it in the middle of Oviedo! I think the addition of UCF’s medical school to this park area is an awful mistake. Please don’t move Orlando to the wonderful Oviedo! If you want college atmospheres, University Blvd. is 5 minutes away! We need to keep Oviedo with the quiet charm that it presently has!

    Restaurants
I agree with the above comments on adding more attractive restaurants. I would like to see more upscale restaurants around the lake. The upscale restaurants would most likely attract more professional people and not the college crowd. Let’s avoid the fast-food environments and stick to something classier. Let’s distinguish Oviedo from the unattractive and congested Waterford Lakes scene.
