PPS’s study of Washington Square Park finds that the park works amazingly well in its current configuration, and that any changes to its layout should only be made with utmost care so as not to destroy the square’s “unique and very special ‘vibe.’”

Washington Square Agreement Met By Cheers and Groans

The Council is not interested in “reinventing the park or changing its character.” The Council is opposed to a recent agreement on the redesign between the communit’s city councilmember and the parks department.
