The
answer to the questionning about bicycle infrastructure’s influencing the
building of a bicycle economy certainly needs to rely on a long-term analysis.
However, encouraging cycling in cities has clearly today an impact on the
economic local sphere : For instance the city of Sebes, Romania,
experienced this by implementing a Network of Walking and Cycling Friendly
Shops. The participants to the network promoted non polluting travelling by
displaying the campaign signs and offering different types of products,
services and discounts to the persons coming by bike or on foot.
