In 2022, Project for Public Spaces had a jam-packed year of helping people create a world of community-powered public spaces.

We invite you to explore our full annual report to learn more about our recent partnerships, education, events, research, and technical assistance projects.

Here are a few highlights of what you will find inside. This past year, Project for Public Spaces...

  • Partnered with like-minded foundations and corporations to provide grants, technical assistance, and capacity building to transform 11 public spaces around North America, from a pop-up mobile library environment to a playground at a shelter for women and their families to a communal "front yard" at a historic train station
  • Offered technical assistance services to plan and design 9 public spaces across North America, including an innovative model for social inclusion in New York's Times Square
  • Facilitated two online placemaking and public markets trainings for 432 participants from 31 countries and 42 U.S. States, including 55 scholarship recipients, increasing our reach by over 550%
  • Published 52 newsletters and 15 articles on placemaking and public markets, including a deep-dive into the seven principles of successful Market Cities
